Building community Creating on and offline spaces for community liberation
Research Making sure we're making the right things by talking to people doing the work
Design Graphic, product, ideas - design justice. The revolution will be beautiful.
Publishing & communication Sharing our ideas with the world in a range of media and code
Development Building shared tools that can help prefigure a fairer world

Assumptions

What we believe needs to be true for this to work.

Assumption Description
Affordability People we want to work with can afford our services
Spirit of Cooperation We can get people to meaningfully collaborate on shared goals
Security and Scalability We can withstand hostile actors attacking our social and technical infrastructure
Experience and Structure We are capable of supporting our products at the scale we need to be financially sustainable
Time People we work with are universally busy and stressed — can we really get them doing something new?

Outcome Measures

How we know we're making progress.

Measure Description
Discord & social media engagement Focus on quality engagement over big numbers
Total groups working with us How many people are using our software, tools, and ideas?

Raise our studio profile Become part of the national conversation on tech thought leadership
Build shared tools Co-create tools and processes for community liberation
Create alternatives to big tech epistemologies Build better ways of creating and thinking about tech, rooted in social justice movements not industry
Trans and disabled liberation Support trans and disabled people through creating employment and social spaces, and improving support infrastructure
De-silo community organising Connect people working on the same issues digitally and socially

Impact

The long-term changes we're working towards.

Impact Description
Increased community technological capability Self-organised communities have increased power to act by using technology intentionally
A better connected society People find it easier and more fun to connect with others, increasing solidarity within and between groups
We create better intersectional understandings of technology Our work transforms the way people talk about and use technology in their day-to-day lives, campaigns, and workplaces
Our tools take on a life of their own Other people take the things we've made and run with them in ways we didn't predict
