PlaceCal Theory of Change

Ultimate Goal

Create a digital commons of high quality, accurate, timely and trusted information about community activity, owned, curated and operated by a real world network of community organisers.

Overview

PlaceCal's theory of change is based on Transitions Theory - a framework for understanding how systemic change happens through different levels of society.

Strategise Figure out what a reorganised community tech sector looks like, and our place in it
Listen & learn Engage communities locally and nationally on their digital capabilities
Develop Improve the PlaceCal software to meet community digital needs
Train Develop appropriate training programs for various people and groups
Document Record what we do towards our goals so our progress can be shared

Assumptions

What we believe needs to be true for this to work.

Assumption Description
Our tool is what is needed PlaceCal is the key tool that we need to connect up community groups
We are capable of building it The requested features needed to enable PlaceCal adoption are technically possible within the budget constraints
Community groups want to work with each other We are assuming that cooperation is desired and that people aren't happy just being in their own silo
Digital inclusion programs are interested in our approach We get approached a lot for this kind of thing but it may be that for the public sector this means something completely different
Enough skilled people exist to launch it on the ground Are there really enough people out there who can do both the social and technical sides of this?

Outcome Measures
